On a thin sliver of prime southwest Florida shoreline that is west of Route 776 and touches on the Lemon Bay intracoastal aqua preserve lies a very small and quiet private community called Lemon Bay. Technically, Lemon Bay is simply a neighborhood within the larger and more well-known Englewood, FL. But a car ride in Lemon Bay quickly shows that it is a fine and distinct area that immediately seems miles from the busy hubbub that surrounds it.  Lemon Bay Drive. Most all houses on any streets in Lemon Bay have a dock directly on a canal for instant access to Lemon Bay and the Gulf of Mexico beyond. The water views west towards Lemon Bay from this area are memorable. At this point the Lemon Bay aqua preserve is exceptionally broad, presenting a deep and wide horizon. Sunsets here are major events, lingering on the endless horizon, only ever so slowly closing the day. There are some spacious, new Florida style homes here built by privacy and water loving pioneers who have already made the Lemon Bay commitment. There are also numerous beautifully preserved single-story, block construction, old-Florida style ranch homes too. What all the homes in the Lemon Bay neighborhood have in common though is that they are immaculately maintained with fine landscaping features. The high-level of community pride is obvious. Tropical birds frequent this area, fishing is superb and the nearby barrier islands of Boca Grande, Palm Island, Useppa and Manasota Key make excellent boating destinations and have beautiful Gulf beaches.
